LAMDA Classes at Rome International School
Confidence • Creativity • Communication
Give your child the confidence, creativity and communication skills to shine — on stage and in life.
At Elizabeth Samuels Drama School, we believe drama plays a vital role in every child’s development. Our classes help children build confidence, improve listening skills and learn to work collaboratively in a fun and supportive environment.
Why LAMDA?
LAMDA examinations help children to:
Expand vocabulary and communication skills
Gain confidence in public speaking and performance
Work towards an internationally recognised qualification
Earn UCAS points (for older students)
These skills benefit children far beyond the classroom - supporting their academic success, friendships and future opportunities.
LAMDA is a world-renowned drama school that has helped learners worldwide become confident speakers since the 1880s. As the leader in graded examinations, LAMDA sets the standard for speech, communication and drama across the globe.
At RIS, our LAMDA lessons are designed with students in mind. Whether students are keen performers or simply want to boost their confidence, LAMDA offers something for everyone. Lessons are a fun and supportive way to develop valuable skills like public speaking, self-expression and communication — all of which are useful both in school and beyond.
Across the year, students will also take part in two LAMDA showcases, where they’ll perform selected scenes and monologues for an invited audience of parents, friends and family. These events are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate their progress and build performance confidence. LAMDA exams take place in July 2026. All examinations are optional and can be discussed with our LAMDA teachers.

“My son has some communication difficulties, and speaking in front of an audience has always been a big challenge for him.
At the recent LAMDA showcase, he stood centre stage and recited his poem with a loud, confident voice — something we never imagined possible just a few months ago.
Miss Ilenia has been an incredible teacher who helped him build his confidence step by step. We are so proud of what he achieved, and so grateful to Elizabeth Samuels Drama School for creating such a supportive and inspiring environment”
